Food, Beverage & Hospitality

Our clients are in the business of joy. In everything they do their goal is to provide their customers with a compelling, memorable and enjoyable experience. We understand our clients’ businesses — because we are their customers. We partner with them so that they can more efficiently and effectively bring joy to the community. We celebrate their successes and offer them encouragement on their terms and in their language. We are advocates and ambassadors for our clients’ businesses and industries, matching our clients’ passion for the Food, Beverage & Hospitality industry at every turn.

Our home is the Pacific Northwest — a region of startling beauty and abundant resources.  Fortunately for us, many of those resources are pleasant to the palate. Imagine for a moment, you’re enjoying a warm summer evening sipping an ice-cold IPA and dining on grilled salmon. The hops in your beer were most likely grown in Washington.  The salmon was almost certainly caught in Alaskan waters. And when your waiter brings you a decadent hazelnut chocolate torte for dessert, you can rest assured the hazelnuts were likely grown in Oregon.  The variety and abundance of foodstuffs in and around our region combine with a culturally diverse population to make our home a hotbed of culinary innovation.

Maybe you’ve noticed we’re not the only ones aware of our landscape’s bounty.  Every day, our cities greet scores of tourists wanting to taste the northwest and all it has to offer.  Whether arriving by plane, train or one of the many cruise ships that line our waterfronts, those visitors drive the vibrant hospitality industry right in our back yard.

At Lane Powell, we relish our good fortune of being rooted in the Pacific Northwest.  We share our visitors’ joy in making new and exciting memories within our region: whether they come from a visit to one of our many wineries, breweries or craft distilleries; a trip to one of the region’s exceptional ski slopes; a five-star meal prepared by one of our world-renowned chefs; or a luxurious weekend at a local resort and spa.  We share that joy because not only do we have the good fortune of living and working in this beautiful place, but our attorneys can often be found enjoying those same amenities.

Nevertheless, we also recognize that behind the smile on a guest’s face is a lot of hard work.  The food, beverage and hospitality industries are some of the most competitive in the world.  Compounding that competition is the ever-increasing scope of government regulation on businesses in this space.  At Lane Powell, we believe that vibrant food, beverage and hospitality industries make our region — and the world — a better and more joyful place.  We work just as hard as our clients in these industries to make sure they get advice and assistance needed to help their businesses thrive — one delicious bite or luxurious spa day at a time.

Our team includes professionals from varying legal disciplines across the firm, allowing us to assist clients with all aspects of their business. Regardless of whether their needs relate to the immigration status of workers helping to harvest our region’s abundant crops, negotiating the purchase or lease of a processing facility, dealing with the complexity of state and federal alcohol beverage regulations, managing a product recall, handling wage and hour concerns, or anything in between, we stand ready to assist.

We do this because we love our home and every delectable, relaxing thing it has to offer.
