Chambers® USA  Recommends Lane Powell in Multiple Categories for 2017

Awards & Honors

Twenty-three attorneys and 11 practices were ranked in the 2017 edition of Chambers® USA: America’s Leading Lawyers in Business. Chambers also listed two attorneys and one practice as “Recognised Practitioners.”

During the research process, Chambers® received comments regarding Lane Powell’s practice teams, including the following:

  • “Number-one creditor practice in the Seattle area.”
  • “Very savvy and smart, and think outside the box.”
  • “They are strong in the quality of their work and advice, and in their responsiveness and dedication to their clients.”

Lane Powell’s Bankruptcy/Restructuring Practice Group was described as “a top player for creditor representation.” The group was also recommended for its representation “of financial institutions on loan documentation, restructuring, enforcement and bankruptcy matters.” Additionally, they were commended for their experience “in receiverships and in cross-border insolvency matters, including workouts and Chapter 15 cases.” Leading individuals named in this area include: Charles R. The Firm’s Corporate and Mergers and Acquisitions Practice was “recognized for its in-depth knowledge of corporate finance and governance,” as well as its “excellent reputation for a range of corporate work including securities compliance, financing and M&A matters.” The group was also recommended for its “strength in corporate and finance matters pertaining to tax-exempt organizations, government agencies and cooperatives.” Leading individuals named in this area include: Kenneth R. The Intellectual Property and Technology Practice Group was recognized for its “broad range of background experience in areas such as engineering, music and regulated industries, giving it a crucial depth of knowledge in key sectors.” The group was also described as “well-regarded for its experience across an array of IP strategy, litigation and enforcement matters,” and recommended for “representing growing and established businesses in relation to copyright, trademark, patent and trade secret issues.”  Leading individuals named in this category include: Brian G. Bodine (Washington) and Parna A. Mehrbani (Oregon).

Lane Powell’s Labor and Employment Practice Group was described as “well regarded for its handling of employment disputes and employee benefits matters.” The group was also recognized for its “strength in traditional labor law concerns, including collective bargaining and union campaigns,” as well as their “significant experience representing clients in discrimination cases at trial and before the EEOC and other agencies.” Leading individuals named in this category include: David G. Hosenpud (Oregon), Peter C. Partnow (Alaska) and D. Michael Reilly (Washington).

Chambers said that the firm’s general Commercial Litigation Practice “excels in class action and healthcare litigation, as well as securities and antitrust work.”  It was also highlighted that “clients benefit from the team’s cooperation with the firm’s offices, which provide depth of resource and a seamless service.” Additionally, the group was recognized for its proficiency in “product liability, construction and IP disputes” and is “well-regarded for its appellate practice.” Leading individuals named in this category include: Michael B. Baylous (Alaska), Rudy A. Englund (Washington), Douglas W. Greene (Washington), Brewster H. Jamieson (Alaska) and Milo Petranovich (Oregon).

The Real Estate Practice Group was recommended for its “strength in a range of matters including urban development, mixed-use development and sports arena development,” as well as “for its experience in the senior housing space.” Leading individuals named in this category include: Scott Campbell (Washington), Bryan E. Powell (Oregon) and Mike R. Silvey (Oregon).
