Lane Powell is proud to be named one of the Best Law Firms for Women by Seramount (formerly Working Mother Media). The list recognizes firms for their efforts in recruiting, retaining, promoting and developing women lawyers.
Lane Powell President, Barbara J. Duffy stated “Ensuring that our women lawyers can thrive in their work, professional development and lives outside of the office remains a top priority for Lane Powell. Our inclusion on this list reflects our commitment to undertaking genuine efforts to make Lane Powell a destination law firm for women, particularly with the challenges seen in the past year.”
Lane Powell was selected as one of the best law firms for women for its forward-thinking programs and policies designed to place women in positions of leadership. Over half of Lane Powell’s Board members are women, as are 34 percent of our Equity Shareholders. In addition, women make up 50 percent of the lawyers who lead Lane Powell’s Practice Teams. From the launch of our formal Women’s Initiative in 2019 to our participation in the Mansfield Rule 4.0 Certification Program in 2020-2021, Lane Powell is committed to offering women opportunities in leadership, and to creating a talent pipeline for others as they develop. It is our aim to put women in positions of influence, where they can ensure that those who come after them will have similar opportunities at the firm.
Some figures from this year’s Best Law Firms for Women list include an average of 25 percent women among equity partners, compared with 23 percent last year, with women representing 40 percent of all lawyers overall (up from 39 percent in 2020). Of all female equity partners, 16 percent were multicultural, and multicultural women represented 27 percent of overall women lawyers (up from 26 percent).
The Best Law Firms for Women application covers more than 300 questions about attorney demographics at different levels, schedule flexibility, paid time off and parental leaves, and development and retention of women. This year, in light of COVID-19, several questions were added about the success of working from home.
