Chapter on Oregon’s Guaranty Laws in American Bar Association Guide
Lane Powell Shareholder Mike Silvey authored the “Oregon Law of Guaranties” chapter in the American Bar Association book The Law of Guaranties: A Jurisdiction-by-Jurisdiction Guide to U.S. and Canadian Law. In the guide, Silvey explains that Oregon has no suretyship statutes, so Oregon’s guaranty law is based on common law and court decisions. The guide serves as an essential tool for both transactional lawyers and litigators, and only the most notable and experienced practitioners from each jurisdiction are invited to author. Silvey was the only author for the state of Oregon.
