Erin Sweeney has joined Lane Powell as a Shareholder on the Labor, Employment & Benefits Team in Portland.
Sweeney is a proactive and client-centered counselor with significant experience providing strategic and pragmatic day-to-day advice on employment and labor issues, in both unionized and nonunionized workplaces, and to clients ranging from small start-ups to Fortune 100 companies.
Her background includes providing a full-spectrum of employment advice for local, national and international employers on a wide array of issues related to state and federal employment and labor laws, internal policies and compliance issues, leaves and accommodations, discipline and termination, employment agreements, restrictive covenants, risk management, dispute resolution and workplace best practices.
With well over a decade of experience exclusively in labor and employment law, Sweeney's practice also focuses on defending matters in state and federal courts, arbitration, and administrative forums such as the EEOC, DOL, NLRB and state agencies. She also provides tactical advice to employers on labor organizing campaigns, wage and hour audits, internal communications, workplace trainings, avoiding unfair labor practice charges and other day-to-day human resources issues.
Sweeney has also successfully represented employers during R-petition hearings, unfair labor practice charges, grievance proceedings, labor arbitrations, strikes and lockouts, benefit and trust fund audits and collective bargaining.
Sweeney received her J.D., cum laude, from Seattle University and her B.A., cum laude, in Journalism/Public Relations from Arizona State University.
