Holly L. Johnston counsels clients ranging from startups to Fortune 100 companies on strategically developing and managing their U.S. and foreign intellectual property (IP) portfolios. She handles all aspects of IP procurement and counseling, including developing portfolios of valuable IP assets, providing formal opinions and collaborating with IP owners to thoughtfully enforce rights through licensing and dispute resolution. Johnston is admitted to practice in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and is a trained engineer experienced in prosecuting patents in numerous disciplines, including medical devices and diagnostics, software, electronics, green technologies, manufacturing equipment and consumer products. Johnston received her J.D., cum laude, from Gonzaga University School of Law and her B.E. in Biomedical and Electrical Engineering from Vanderbilt University. She serves on the school board for Springwater Environmental Sciences School, a charter school in the Oregon City Public School District that is dedicated to developing in each student a love of learning through an integrated science curriculum and a focus on field studies and outdoor school.
Tereza Simonyan counsels domestic and international clients in corporate transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, entity formation, securities, corporate finance and governance, contract negotiation and general corporate counseling. She works with clients at all stages of the business-growth cycle, including startups, established industry leaders and winding-down businesses, where she applies her prior experience as a litigator and creditors’ rights attorney. Simonyan received her J.D., cum laude, from Seattle University School of Law and her B.S. in Business Law from California State University, Northridge. In addition to English, Simonyan is fluent in Armenian, Russian and Spanish.
William E. Weiner handles employment litigation, strategic HR consulting and a wide range of employment agreements. Weiner has taken multiple cases to trial before federal and state courts and administrative agencies, and obtained numerous favorable outcomes from juries, judges and arbitrators. Outside of the courtroom, he advises employers on complex HR issues and high potential exposure employment events, and works with clients to develop tailored employment-related contracts. Weiner is licensed to practice law in Oregon, California and Washington, and routinely represents businesses with multistate and international operations. Weiner received his J.D., summa cum laude, from Loyola Law School at Los Angeles and his B.A., with high honors, from University of California at Berkeley. He currently serves on the compensation committee as a pro bono consultant for Galt Foundation, a provider of staffing services for individuals with disabilities, and the Local Civil Rules Advisory Committee for the District Court of Oregon.
Jessica N. Yu is an immigration and corporate attorney who assists foreign nationals in obtaining EB-5, L-1, E-2 and other types of employment and investor visas. She also advises domestic companies in hiring foreign employees. On the business front, Yu counsels domestic and international companies throughout the entire lifespan of a business — from entity formation, through operation and management, and ultimate disposition of the business. She serves as Legal Advisor to the Consulate General for the Republic of Korea in Seattle and as an Advisory Board Member for the Korean American Bar Association of Washington. Additionally, Yu is a Commissioner for the Office of Immigrant and Refugees Affairs Commission and active in the American Immigration Lawyers Association. She has been named a “Washington Rising Star” for immigration law by Thomson Reuters since 2015. Yu received her J.D., cum laude, from Seattle University School of Law, her LL.M. in Taxation from University of Washington School Law, and her B.A., with honors, in Economics and Psychology from University of Michigan.
