Beginning January 1, 2019, Oregon’s Equal Pay Act expands pay equity protections to a variety of protected classes, including race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, national origin, marital status, veteran status, disability or age. In addition, the act also broadens and clarifies the legal definition of compensation to now include wages, salary, bonuses, benefits, fringe benefits and equity-based compensation. The act, signed by Governor Kate Brown, applies to businesses of all sizes.
