Lane Powell Earns 100 Percent in 2017 Corporate Equality Index

Awards & Honors

Lane Powell is proud to announce that it received a perfect score of 100 percent on the 2017 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), a national benchmarking survey and report on corporate policies and practices related to LGBT workplace equality, administered by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation.

Lane Powell joins the ranks of 517 major U.S. businesses that also earned top marks this year. According to Jill Long, Lane Powell’s Director of Development and Diversity, “We are incredibly proud to receive a perfect score on the Corporate Equality Index from the Human Rights Campaign Foundation. This is a powerful affirmation that we are committed to and making great strides in promoting a culture of inclusion at Lane Powell. It is extremely meaningful to our Firm to receive this recognition, and we will continue to champion policies and practices that support an inclusive and diverse workplace committed to equality.”

The 2017 CEI rated 1,043 businesses in the report, which evaluates LGBT-related policies and practices including non-discrimination workplace protections, domestic partner benefits, transgender-inclusive health care benefits, competency programs and public engagement with the LGBT community. Lane Powell’s efforts in satisfying all of the CEI’s criteria results in a 100 percent ranking and the designation as a Best Place to Work for LGBT Equality.

Lane Powell President Chuck Riley stated, “It’s an honor to be recognized by the Human Rights Campaign as a Best Place to Work for LGBT Equality. At Lane Powell, we are deeply committed to providing an open, diverse environment where our attorneys and staff can thrive and do their best work as their authentic selves. Inclusion and tolerance are at the core of who we are as a Firm — and we strive every day to model these values within the Firm, and in our community at large.”

The Human Rights Campaign Foundation is the educational arm of America’s largest civil rights organization working to achieve equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual transgender and queer people. HRC envisions a world where LGBTQ people are embraced as full members of society at home, at work and in every community.
