IHCA & WHCA Fall Conference | Spokane, Wash.

Krista Hardwick will present “Hot Topics in Employment Law” at the Idaho Health Care Association (IHCA) and Washington Health Care Association (WHCA) Annual Fall Conference. Hardwick’s presentation will take place at 12:45 p.m. on Tuesday, October 3 and will cover recent and upcoming changes to labor and employment laws in Washington state and at the federal level. Her focus will be the new Washington state paid sick leave law that goes into effect January 1, 2018, and the new Washington state paid family and medical leave insurance law. Participants will learn strategies for dealing with recreational and medical marijuana in the workplace as well as hear about the status of the Department of Labor’s new white-collar overtime rules. Additional topics will include rules regarding volunteers in the workplace, best practices for accommodating employees with disabilities, avoiding retaliation claims and lessons learned from recent employment-related lawsuits against long term care facilities. The conference will take place October 2-4 at The Historic Davenport Hotel in Spokane, Washington.
