Lane Powell won a significant victory on behalf of its client, World Class Technologies (WCT), at the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit (CAFC). In a precedential opinion filed October 20, the CAFC affirmed the judgment of the U.S. District Court in Oregon that WCT did not infringe the asserted claims of the Ormco patent. In doing so, the CAFC affirmed the district court’s claim construction. This is a significant victory for WCT as it allows them to continue to develop and sell their H4 orthodontic bracket, which was accused of infringing Ormco’s patent. The appeal involved attorneys from both the Seattle and Portland offices, including Brian Bodine, Julianne Davis, Peter Hawkes and Susan Eggum.
