Lane Powell Shareholder Bob Maloney attended a dinner at the U.S. Supreme Court on Friday, November 13, to honor Ninth Circuit Senior Judge Edward Leavy, who received the 2015 Edward J. Devitt Distinguished Service to Justice Award for outstanding service to the judiciary. Leavy was selected by a committee chaired by Justice Clarence Thomas from a group of 16 federal judges throughout the country. He is only the fourth judge from the Ninth Circuit to receive this award.
Maloney was one of two Oregon lawyers invited by Judge Leavy to join him, his family and other guests to attend the event. Justices Roberts, Sotomayor, Kennedy and Thomas attended. Following the ceremony, Justices Thomas and Kennedy attended the cocktail party and dinner at the Supreme Court, which included a presentation by Oregon attorney Bill Barton on Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes.
