Lane Powell Announces New Shareholders and Counsel to the Firm

Lane Powell is pleased to announce that four attorneys in its Seattle and Portland offices have been elected to Shareholder and one attorney has been elected to Counsel to the Firm, effective January 1, 2011.


Jennifer Beyerlein (Seattle) concentrates her practice on construction litigation and professional malpractice defense. Beyerlein is a LEED® Accredited Professional, one of the few attorneys in the state of Washington to achieve this credential. She has been named a “Rising Star” in 2009 and 2010 by Washington Law & Politics. Beyerlein received her J.D., cum laude, from University of Michigan Law School and her B.A. from Stanford University.

Peter Hawkes (Portland) has represented clients at both the trial court and appellate levels, enabling him to bring a holistic and long-term view to clients’ problems. He has experience in a wide range of commercial litigation matters, including securities cases, contract disputes, business torts, unlawful trade practices, insurance coverage disputes and real estate disputes. Hawkes also has significant experience in First Amendment litigation, white collar criminal defense and representation of long term care providers. He received his J.D., cum laude, from New York University School of Law and his B.A., magna cum laude, from Harvard University.

Laura Morse (Seattle) focuses her extensive and diverse employment litigation practice on claims of wrongful discharge and employee benefits, as well as discrimination claims involving race, sex, religion and disability. Morse has experience with the complex interplay between state and federal labor laws. She is also an active member of Lane Powell’s Appellate Group. She has filed extensive briefings with the Washington State Court of Appeals and Washington State Supreme Court. Morse received her J.D., magna cum laude, from Chapman University School of Law and her B.A., magna cum laude, from Western Washington University.

Dawn Spratley (Seattle) focuses her practice on estate and trust litigation, probate, and domestic and international estate planning. In 2009, she was named a “Rising Star” by Washington Law & Politics. Spratley received her J.D. from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law and her B.A. from Pepperdine University.

Janis White (Seattle) focuses her practice on complex commercial litigation, including banking, real estate litigation, construction litigation, fiduciary litigation, condemnation, securities, contracts, unfair competition and general commercial cases. She has practiced in federal and state courts and conducted bench and jury trials. White received her J.D. from Boston University and her B.A. from Oberlin College.

Counsel to the Firm:

Shawn Lindsay (Portland) acts as general counsel to international software consortia negotiating, drafting, and overseeing enforcement of domestic and international software licenses and managing IP litigation. As a member of the Firm’s Emerging Company and Venture Investment group, Lindsay works with start-up ventures and mature companies in corporate formation/structuring, securing intellectual property rights and financing. Lindsay was recently elected as State Representative for Oregon State House District 30. He received his J.D. from Washburn University School of Law and his B.A. from Brigham Young University.
