Dan Kittle helps clients navigate complex legal disputes to minimize stress, fight for their interests, and achieve resolution.

Dan’s business litigation practice focuses primarily on:

  • complex contract claims,
  • state and local tax disputes
  • franchise and dealership matters, and
  • corporate governance feuds.

In state tax matters, Dan’s experience includes B&O tax classification and Commerce Clause limitations on state taxing authorities. He counsels franchisors and franchisees on complex litigation and compliance issues. His corporate governance experience includes representing clients in:

  • breach of fiduciary duty claims,
  • partnership disputes,
  • claims arising out of mergers and acquisitions, and
  • lender liability claims.

In 2015, Dan was selected as one of eleven state-wide future business leaders in the 2015-16 class of Leadership Washington through the Association of Washington Business Institute. He has also been named a “Washington Rising Star” by Super Lawyers magazine for 2016 and 2017. Dan serves as the Chair of the Financial Services Subcommittee for the American Bar Association State And Local Tax Committee.

Dan’s passion for problem solving extends beyond his law practice to his community as well, where he helped establish Leadership Launch, a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering students to become future community leaders. He currently serves on the Leadership Launch Advisory Council and the Mukilteo YMCA Board of Directors. He also regularly volunteers as a youth coach in soccer, basketball, and baseball, and he has previously served on the Board of Directors for the American Red Cross (King County and Kitsap County) and volunteered for the Nonprofit Assistance Center Legal Clinic.

Before law school, Dan served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in the Kyrgyz Republic (Kyrgyzstan), where he lived in a small rural village and worked as a teacher, basketball coach, and grant writer. Dan earned his undergraduate degree in journalism from Michigan State University and wrote for various newspapers, magazines, and online publications, including the Roanoke Times, Oakland Press, Lansing State Journal, Washington Post, Michigan College Hockey Online, and U.S. College Hockey Online. He also spent a brief stint as a server at the Olive Garden, which he once described as his “dream job.”

Dan lives in Mukilteo with his wonderful wife, Rachel, and their two young children. He loves running, reading, and writing. He has run several half-marathons, road races, and trail races, and he is currently writing a book for his children about his Peace Corps experiences.
