Northwest Minority Job Fair

Lane Powell is a founding co-sponsor of the Northwest Minority Job Fair ("Job Fair"). The purpose of the Job Fair is to provide a forum for minority law students and attorneys to interview with a variety of legal employers. Typically, more than 150 applicants from 35 law schools nationwide interview with approximately 50 employers including law firms from Washington and Oregon, as well as local and national agencies such as the Environmental Protection Agency and the National Labor Relations Board. The Job Fair also funds scholarships awarded by the Asian Bar Association of Washington, the Hispanic Bar Association, the Loren Miller Bar Association and the Northwest Indian Bar Association.

From its inception in 1987, Lane Powell has been an active member of the Job Fair's Board, and our attorneys and staff have helped administer the program. From its inception through 1991 and again in 1999, Lane Powell hosted the Job Fair. In 1992, the Washington State Bar Association presented Lane Powell with the "Affirmative Action Award" in recognition of our contributions to the Job Fair.
