Tober Interviewed about Doing Business in China
Gary Tober, Chair of Lane Powell’s Tax Practice Group, was recently interviewed on tax aspects of doing business in China by 9Spaces, a Web site devoted to doing business in China. 9Spaces is a business portal that aggregates strategic information on China and provides online articles, links, RSS Feeds, podcasts and insights from practicing China experts, which now include Tober.
Dave Parker, CEO and founder of 9Spaces, interviewed Tober about tax issues relevant to cross-border business with China. Tober discusses domestic and Chinese tax issues for U.S. businesses doing business in China.

Tober discusses tax compliance, liability exposure, dealing with IRS issues, income-tax treaties and corporate structure, and he speaks about the March 16 Draft Chinese Corporate Income Tax Law that will likely go into effect Jan. 1, 2008.
The interview closes with the steps companies should take once in the Chinese market, including issues such as the Value Added Tax, U.S. and Chinese tax issues around technology transfers, U.S. and Chinese transfer pricing rules and other high-compliance issues in the Chinese market.
