Firm Names New Shareholders
Lane Powell is pleased to announce the election to shareholder of five attorneys in its Seattle, Portland and Anchorage offices.
Brian B. DeFoe is a member of the firm’s business department, where his practice focuses on matters involving corporation finance, the federal and state regulation of securities and general corporate law. He routinely provides assistance on questions involving issuers’ obligations under the Securities Act of 1933 and the Securities Exchange Act of 1934, matters of corporate formation and capitalization, mergers and acquisitions and various regulatory matters. Mr. DeFoe received his B.A. from the University of Florida, his J.D. from Gonzaga University School of Law and a Master of Laws degree in Securities and Financial Regulation from Georgetown University Law Center.
Brian J. Meenaghan is a member of the firm’s litigation department. His practice involves securities litigation, customer-broker disputes, intellectual property litigation, products liability litigation, class action defense, and business dispute resolution in state and federal courts and through arbitration. Meenaghan received his B.A. from the University of Notre Dame, his M.A. (summa cum laude) from Loyola University, and his J.D. (magna cum laude) from the University of Oregon School of Law.
Victoria D. Blachly is a civil trial attorney who works on a wide range of litigation issues, including employment, insurance, personal injury, premises liability, professional liability, trust and fiduciary litigation, and will contests. Her jury cases include those involving claims for intentional interference with prospective inheritance, legal malpractice for estate planning, will contests, premises liability, and breach of fiduciary duty. Blachly received her B.S. (with Honors) from Washington State University, and her J.D. from Northwestern School of Law of Lewis and Clark College.
Jeffrey W. Knapp is a member of the firm’s Employee Benefits Practice Group and has significant experience in all aspects of employee benefit plans. Knapp’s expertise encompasses health and welfare benefits as well as qualified and nonqualified retirement plans. He is a past president of the Portland Chapter of the Western Pension & Benefits Conference. He received his B.A. (summa cum laude) from Washington and Lee University and his J.D. (cum laude) from University of Pennsylvania Law School.
Shannon W. Martin concentrates his practice in commercial and general litigation, including oil and gas law. Shannon also provides transactional advice to business clients, including advice to landowners in the context of subsurface exploration, production and development, and rights under ANCSA. He joined Lane Powell from Union Oil Company of California’s (Unocal) Alaska Business Unit, where he was a landman and attorney, negotiating and drafting trade agreements, and advising management and staff on land, legal and regulatory issues related to oil and gas matters. Shannon received his J.D. from the University of San Diego School of Law, and a B.S. from San Diego State University.
