Our firm is proud to announce that Grant Degginger has been elected deputy mayor of Bellevue in a unanimous vote by the Bellevue City Council. He will serve a two-year term.

Grant Degginger was elected to the Council in November 1999 and has focused intensively on land use, economic development and improved efficiency in management of city development review and inspection services. Degginger also has been the city’s representative on the Cascade Water Alliance, a coalition of cities and other water purveyors working to augment the region’s water supply.

“Bellevue is a great place to live and work,” Degginger said. “The Council’s goal is to keep it that way, and I look forward to using my new role to help ensure that result.”

Degginger’s practice at Lane Powell involves representing clients in environmental, land use, regulation, and construction litigation matters. He has represented potentially responsible parties (PRP’s) in CERCLA proceedings, handled private cost recovery actions on behalf of property owners, and worked with various industries obtaining environmental permits. Mr. Degginger has represented public and private entities in claims alleging negligence, nuisance and inverse condemnation due to floods, slides, and loss of lateral support caused by building construction, public works projects and alteration of storm water flows. Also, he has represented project proponents in litigation brought by organizations opposed to project siting. He has represented both public and private entities in litigation involving land use and construction issues. Mr. Degginger’s environmental work has included assisting property owners whose property or facilities are located within the boundaries of Indian reservations. He has litigated environmental compliance issues in tribal court, and he has litigated tribal claims of access to “usual and accustomed” fishing places on private land in federal court.

Participating in the life of our community through public service has a long tradition at Lane Powell, “said James L. Robart, the firm’s Co-Managing Partner. “We are very proud of Grant’s service as a Bellevue City Councilmember and now as Deputy Mayor.”
