Washington Consumer Protection Act (CPA)

Washington was the second state to pass a comprehensive consumer protection statute in 1961. The Washington Consumer Protection Act (CPA) is found at Chapter 19.86 of the RCW. Section 2 of the Act declares that:

Unfair methods of competition and unfair and deceptive acts or practices in the conduct of any trade or commerce are hereby declared unlawful. RCW 19.86.020.
