New California Law Requires Websites to Post Privacy Policies

Beginning July 1, 2004, all operators of commercial websites and providers of online services which collect personally identifiable information from California consumers must post a privacy policy. The new California Online Privacy Protection Act of 2003 (“OPPA”) applies to any person or company that operates a website, even if that company is not located in California.
