Areas of Practice
Bryan Powell is co-chair of the Real Estate and Land Use practice group. His practice focuses on retail, office and mixed-use development, private/public redevelopment and seniors housing projects, including areas of sales and acquisitions, leasing, management and operations. Bryan routinely assists developer, investor and lender clients in finding creative financing solutions for difficult-to-fund projects. In addition, Bryan has broad experience in real estate finance, secured lending, workouts and loan restructuring, having represented numerous lenders and borrowers over the years.
Bryan combines technical expertise with a practical understanding of the parties’ business needs, which enables him to put challenging deals together or to orchestrate the restructuring of troubled projects toward common goals. Project financing often includes federal funds, state and local regulated programs and various tax credits, as available.
His public clients include the Oregon Public Employees Retirement Fund, which owns and manages an extensive real property portfolio including commercial, retail, industrial and multifamily product lines. Bryan has also represented developers of the Villebois Village Center, the Belmont Dairy, the Hollywood Library, Madison Office Condominiums and Museum Place, in addition to other commercial projects. Bryan frequently works with independent and assisted living facility owners and operators on acquisition, development and financing matters.
