Areas of Practice
Shawn Lindsay is a skilled intellectual property, e-commerce and business lawyer. He acts as general counsel to international software consortia negotiating, drafting, and overseeing enforcement of domestic and international software licenses and managing IP litigation. Shawn’s experience includes representing clients with a wide variety of intellectual property needs, including representation in the following areas: software licensing, Internet, domain names, establishing IP rights, acquiring and transferring IP rights, preserving IP rights, and enforcing and defending IP rights.
As a member of the Firm’s Emerging Company and Venture Investment group, Shawn also works with start-up ventures and mature companies in corporate formation/structuring, securing intellectual property rights, and financing. On a pro bono basis, Shawn serves as general counsel to Special Olympics Oregon.
Prior to joining the Firm, Shawn served as a law clerk extern to Judge Sam A. Crow, at the United States District Court for the District of Kansas.
Outside the office, Shawn is an avid skier and a political junkie. He enjoys home improvement and studying history and foreign languages. Shawn has lived in Spain, speaks Spanish fluently, and is conversational in Catalán. Currently, Shawn is a candidate for the Oregon State House of Representatives.

Autodesk, Inc. v. Open Design Alliance (U.S. District Court, Western District Washington) Successfully defended and settled claims for trademark infringement, designation of origin and unfair competition.
