Areas of Practice

Bruce Leaverton received his J.D. in 1983 and began his legal career with the Houston law firm of Baker & Botts.  In 1985, he joined Lane Powell and has practiced business finance and bankruptcy law for more than 26 years, representing over that time borrowers, secured lenders, debtors, creditors’ committees, bankruptcy trustees, indentured trustees, and state and federal court receivers.  In particular, he has considerable experience representing financial institutions and corporate clients in complex financial restructurings, recapitalizations, intellectual property disputes, and mergers and acquisitions, both inside and outside of bankruptcy court.  His representation of corporate borrowers is aided and informed by his considerable experience and understanding of the other side of the table, based on his representation of various institutional lenders in distressed secured loan and workout matters.  His practice has also included a wide variety of litigation and administrative matters concerning financial issues, including intercreditor disputes and a variety of investigative and enforcement proceedings by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
