Chambers USA Recommends Lane Powell in Multiple Categories for 2015

Chambers2015-150pxTwenty-one Lane Powell attorneys and 11 practice areas were recently selected by their peers and clients for inclusion in the 2015 edition of the prestigious legal rankings guide Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business.

Lane Powell’s Bankruptcy/Restructuring Practice Group was described as “first-rate” at “handling bankruptcy and receivership cases and related contentious proceedings.” The group was also recommended for its “representation of secured creditors, with additional strength in acting for receivers, debtors and trustees.” A Chambers’ source said “I had a very positive experience,” and that “I would recommend them to anyone who had a bankruptcy matter in Washington.” Leading individuals named in this area include: Bruce W. Leaverton (Washington), Charles R. Ekberg (Washington) and Mary Jo Heston (Washington).

The Firm’s general Commercial Litigation Practice was recommended for its “broad litigation offering” and for “catering to clients in an array of industries, including the pharmaceutical, transport, finance and oil sectors.” Chambers’ sources said “they’re well regarded, respected and experienced. They’ve handled a range of litigation over the years,” and “they are excellent — they have been a great partner to us.” Leading individuals named in this category include: Rudy A. Englund (Washington), Milo Petranovich (Oregon) and Brewster H. Jamieson (Alaska).

The Intellectual Property and Technology Practice Group was recommended for being “highly proficient in trademark and copyright renewals, as well as patent prosecution in the chemical and mechanical engineering space.” The group was also described as being “particularly strong in litigation relating to patent, trademark and copyright infringement.” Chambers’ sources stated that “they have excellent expertise with a good depth and breadth of practice,” and they are “a one-stop shop: whenever I need IP advice, they have a lawyer who can handle it.” Leading individuals named in this category include: Brian G. Bodine (Washington).

Lane Powell was also recognized for its Corporate and Mergers and Acquisitions Practice, and its work on corporate governance, finance and cross-border matters. The group was recommended for offering “a comprehensive range of services, from securities compliance for public companies to transactional matters for banks,” and was “held in high regard for its aviation, energy and retail sector work.” Chambers’ sources said that “they are very knowledgeable, they have valuable experience, they are highly attentive and they are responsive. They tend to bring very practical and useful solutions.” Sources also said that “they are effective, responsive and timely.” Leading individuals named in this category include: Michael E. Morgan (Washington), Kenneth R. Haglund, Jr. (Oregon), Benjamin G. Lenhart (Oregon), Jeffrey C. Wolfstone (Oregon) and Michael Parise (Alaska).

Additionally, the Real Estate Practice Group was recommended for having “detailed focus on urban development, from land use approvals and commercial loan procurement to public/private partnerships for mixed-use project constructions.” Chambers’ sources said that “they have significant experience in stadium redevelopments and real estate-secured loan workouts.” Leading individuals named in this category include: Bryan E. Powell (Oregon) and Mike R. Silvey (Oregon).

The Firm’s Labor and Employment Practice Group was recommended as “advisers for employee handbook amendments and employment contract drafting” and for its “significant litigation experience in an array of areas including Title VII violation claims, FMLA disputes and disability discrimination claims, as well as NLRB arbitrations and collective bargaining agreements.” Chambers’ sources said that “they manage their resources effectively and have broad expertise in labor and employment matters.” Sources also said that “I’m very impressed with the work they’ve done, not just regarding the legal aspects but the personal side of matters also.” Leading individuals named in this category include: Gail E. Mautner (Washington), Laura T. Morse (Washington), D. Michael Reilly (Washington), David G. Hosenpud (Oregon) and Peter C. Partnow (Alaska).
