Sands Quoted in International Legal Technology Association Announcement About New Legal Technology Coalition Sponsored by Lane Powell
Lane Powell Shareholder Darin Sands was quoted in an August 20 International Legal Technology Association press release about the newly-formed Coalition of Technology Resources for Lawyers (CTRL), an organization focusing on providing guidance to litigants and the courts on the practical application of new technology in the litigation process. CTRL was formed by a coalition of legal technology companies and a number of law firms, including Lane Powell, Munger, Tolles & Olson, and King & Spalding, to create an open source forum where best practices and practical guidance for the use of legal technology to reduce costs and identify key facts sooner in the litigation process can be shared and discussed. Its goal is to allow a wide range of legal professionals to collaborate, use, modify and improve upon the ideas proffered by the coalition. Sands commented on the positive impact the coalition could have on the future of eDiscovery and legal technology.
Darin Sands, shareholder with Lane Powell added, “right now there is a unique opportunity in the legal community to lay a new foundation for how eDiscovery and legal technology will be applied for years to come; not just for a select few, but for all legal practitioners. In forming CTRL, we seek to create a dynamic open source environment for judges and litigators to draw upon for practical, real-world guidance and to more fully achieve everyone’s goal of achieving just, speedy and inexpensive resolutions of legal disputes.”
