Budget Committee Hears Testimony on Adding More Court of Appeals Judges
Lane Powell Shareholder Bob Maloney was quoted in a February 22 Oregon Capitol News article titled “Budget Committee Hears Testimony on Adding More Court of Appeals Judges.” The article is about the recent testimony before the House Ways and Means Subcommittee on Public Safety to increase the number of judges on the Oregon Court of Appeals. David Brewer, Chief Justice of the Oregon Court of Appeals, asked Maloney and Paul De Muniz, Chief Justice of the Oregon Supreme Court, to join him in presenting the Court’s position on adding more judges.
Robert Maloney, a senior partner at the Portland-based Lane Powell firm, said it took nearly a year from the time of the final argument to a decision for the last four cases he brought before the court. Maloney described the court’s current condition as a “gridlock situation.”
