Attorneys Moving More as Firms Bulk Up on Expertise
Lane Powell President Lewis Horowitz was quoted in a December 9 Puget Sound Business Journal article titled “Attorneys Moving More as Firms Bulk Up on Expertise.” In the article, Horowitz discussed lateral hiring in 2011 functioning as an investment in the Firm in order to strengthen growing practice areas.
Lewis Horowitz, president at Lane Powell PC, called 2011 a “banner year” for hiring, with five laterals joining the Seattle office. “Our theory since the recession has been to pick up really good legal talent based on the thought that it would ultimately pay for itself,” he said. “The surprise has been how fast it’s paying for itself.”
“There is a great deal of legal talent out there (at firms) that are struggling because of the economy,” Horowitz said. “Some people who aren’t struggling at those firms are heading for greener pastures.”
