Lindquist and Roberts Quoted in Portland Business Journal About Financial Institutions Industry Changes and How Law Firms are Adapting
Malcolm Lindquist and Ken Roberts were quoted in the September 16 issue of Portland Business Journal in an article titled “Banks’ Challenges Aid Law Firm Practices.” The article is about bank failures, Internet commerce and new regulatory laws prompting law firms to increase attorneys in their financial institutions practice area. The article reviewed the changes in Lane Powell’s Financial Institutions Group:
“Bank failures have had a rippling effect,” said Malcolm Lindquist, chair of the Financial Institutions Industry Group at Lane Powell PC. “It’s an outgrowth of change in the economic climate.” …
… Before the recession, lawyers at Lane Powell PC in Portland were busy helping community banks with growth-related tasks such as securing loans and preparing public offerings.
“Now our segment of practice has changed to compliance practice,” said Ken Roberts, a Lane Powell equity partner. “We’re just as busy, but in a different way.”
