Lindquist Quoted in Puget Sound Business Journal Regarding Lane Powell’s Financial Institutions Industry Group
Lane Powell Shareholder Malcolm Lindquist was quoted in Puget Sound Business Journal’s (“PSBJ”) August 26 article titled “Today’s Hot Law Firm Practice — Banking and Finance.” The PSBJ article discussed how recent bank failures, Internet commerce and new regulatory laws have spurred legal firms to increase their financial services divisions.
Lane Powell attorneys are similarly busy, handling mergers, acquisitions and dispositions, and raising capital for both regional and national clients. … The number of attorneys in its Financial Institutions Industry Group has doubled, from 20 to about 40.
‘We also have a very strong litigation group,’ Lindquist said. ‘We find ourselves involved in the defense of our financial institution clients for lending practices and class-action suits.’
‘The volume of banking and finance-related work is causing firms to shift attorneys from other practices to these areas. Some need refresher courses, especially in the area of loan documentation. … Attorneys were required to retool. It’s been a learning experience for everyone.’
