Silvey Quoted in The Oregonian Regarding Land Use Ordinances
Lane Powell Shareholder Mike Silvey was quoted in the February 10 issue of The Oregonian in an article titled “It’s ‘Ordinance Season’ in Washington County, Ending an Annual November-to-February Moratorium on New Local Land Use Laws.” The article discusses Washington County’s “ordinance season,” which bans the county commissioners from adopting new land use ordinances from November through February.
“I have never come across this in any of the states in which I practice,” said Mike Silvey, who practices law in Oregon, California, Washington and Idaho for the firm of Lane Powell. “But there’s certainly some populist appeal to it. It establishes a sort of moratorium during the busy season when people are not focusing on legislation.”
