Areas of Practice

Katrin Andrews-Gist focuses her practice on aviation law and advises clients on aircraft acquisition, disposition, operation, leasing and financing, as well as Federal Aviation Administration regulatory matters, general business and corporate law.  Katrin has represented numerous corporate and private purchasers and sellers of aircraft, and has assisted clients in forming operating structures that work to shield tax, FAA and general liabilities.  She regularly assists purchasers of Boeing aircraft from all over the world, including the B-787 aircraft, with Boeing contract negotiations, analysis, and consequences for delayed delivery dates.  In addition, she has worked with foreign airlines regarding foreign ownership requirements and domestic acquisitions, during which time she was in close contact with the Department of Transportation.

In addition to Katrin’s extensive experience advising clients regarding transactional aviation law matters, she also assists clients with aviation-related litigation, ranging from disputes over aircraft manufacturer purchase agreements to aircraft fractional share company contracts and re-purchase rights.

Katrin is the past president of the King County Bar Association Aviation Section, and is a German citizen and a native speaker, reader and writer of German.  She is one of a handful of German-speaking aviation lawyers in the United States, and also assists German, Swiss and Austrian clients who desire a German-speaking lawyer in the United States in a variety of legal matters.
