Lane Powell Shareholder Diane Butler was quoted in the October 25 issue of The Seattle Times in an article titled “Bellevue family stuck in Canada waiting for visa.” The article was about a Bangladeshi family with Canadian citizenship waiting on an E-2 treaty investor visa renewal in order to return to their hometown of Bellevue, Wash. The family has been stuck in Canada for 15 weeks and doesn’t know whether they will be able to return. The government denies that anyone would be subject to special review because of where they were born.” Butler said in her experience “fewer than 5 percent of all applicants for this visa experience such intensive screening.”
