Fleming Elected Chairman of Board for Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Puget Sound
Lane Powell Shareholder Mick Fleming, who has been an active board member of the Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Puget Sound for seven years, has recently been elected as Chairman of the Board for 2008 by the Board of Directors. Fleming notes that his new position will involve “… more commitment during weekends and evenings, but only because I love what I do.”
Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Puget Sound serves Washington’s King, Pierce and Jefferson Counties and matches children ages 7 through 16 with mentors in professionally supported one-to-one relationships. National research has shown that positive relationships between youths and their Big Brother or Big Sister have direct and measurable impacts on their lives, giving them more self confidence, helping them get along better with their families, making them less likely to begin using illegal drugs and alcohol, and making them less likely to skip school.
Fleming is a member of Lane Powell’s Corporate Finance and Securities department. He focuses his practice on complex dispute resolution and also handles a number of business mergers and acquisitions, as well as complex real estate finance transactions. Fleming is active in the community and has been engaged in several civic endeavors including serving serving on the King County Stadium Advisory Board, and serving on the Boards of Directors for Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Washington, Legal Aid for Washington Fund (“LAW Fund”), Seattle Children’s Museum, and Big Brothers Big Sisters of King and Pierce Counties.
